As someone without a real rooting interest in either team, this is a great game. Lead changes, great pitching, timely hitting. True, some sloppy play (expected with play-off nerves). If I was a serious fan of either team, I would be having a heart attack right about now.

I got this theory: Moneyball II: The G&PB's Strikes back is going to be based on this season. It'll be like Rocky II was to Rocky. This time the lovable underdog wins. Now, to heighten the pathos, the A's need to lose some then win some before they face Apollo...er...The Cardinals in the finals. Of course the movie franchise goes down hill from there. By the time Moneyball IV comes out they'll have no surprises left and will be relying on increasingly caricature-like foes. Still, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Tigers this movie...er...series. The G&PB has a plan and a script and no part of that involves Ultimate Tiger Victory.

It struck me yesterday after watching prince fielder, than Jonathan Broxton later in the evening, that Prince is by far the most morbidly obese player in all of baseball. MUCH MORE OBESE than either Sandoval and Sabathia. I know babe Ruth was big, even Cecil, but is it possible that fielder is the most obese player in the history of baseball? Can’t be good for Detroit in the upcoming years.
