I agree it was a bad call, I heard it on the radio while driving, so when I initially heard the call, I thought Kozma had just backed up into the grass, and thought it was correct. However, once I saw the replay, I agreed with most that was not the right call, sure he was camped out under it, but not after sprinting into the outfield. The Braves lost that one from the 3 errors in the game, although the score might have been closer if they would have had one more out to work with.

Yesterday’s Nats/Cards game was pretty sad from both sides, Gio’s pitching was everywhere, and the Cardinals couldn’t capitalize on any of the scoring opportunities presented to them. I’m hoping today’s game is better for both sides

Well, at least three of the four teams with the better record managed to negate the disadvantage of having to go on the road for the first two games of their series, and the A’s would have as well if Crisp makes that catch.

I’m one of those guys who thinks the Shortstop peeled off the ball SOLELY because the umpire yelled out “infield fly” and he thought it was Matt Holliday calling him off. If the umpire doesn’t make that call, I think the ball is caught.

So… in all reality… the Braves benefitted from that call, b/c they got 2nd and 3rd out of it… instead of, say if it was caught, runners would still be at 1st and 2nd. Perhaps it was all the Cardinals fans at Turner Field that threw the debris? (It certainly wasn’t entirely Braves fans filling those seats!)

What a disheartening baseball weekend.

A’s blow their late lead.
Orioles bring in their closer to blow an otherwise tight game.
Braves got screwed on a call (doesn’t mean they didn’t screw themselves with bad defense).
St. Louis blows their late lead.
Giants can’t hit anymore.

So far, this shit is lame.

Friday Night: It was tense in the Lair. The Braves-Cardinals game has had some tough moments to watch (Oh Chipper what the HELL kind of throw was that?). Craig had already gone through TWO boxes of bubbles in his pipe! After a third reload he kept puffing furiously as he watched the next pitch on his 71″ LED screen. Leaning forward as Simmons took a whack at the ball. Oh no! A lazy popup. Kozma going back. Seems to have it. But wait at the last minute moves away! Was he thinking Holliday called him off? The ball dropped! Awesome- wait what.

“Infield Fly! Holbrook you fiend!,” Craig jumped out of his high chair, and immediately pressed a button on his armrest.

“Sir?”, said the nondescript voice.

“Implement General Order 66.” Craig declared ominously.

“Right away sir.”

“Craig kept watching the field as Fredi argued with Holbrook and… wait what was this? BRAVES fans throwing stuff on the field! FOR SHAME! What the heck was this. He didn’t order that! He pressed the button again:

“What the heck is that crap on the field!??”

The voice came back uncertain, “Uh, you said to implement order 66 sir.”

Craig would have pulled out his hair if still had any! “No! No! No! Order 66 is to send a strongly worded letter to Bud Selig on this abomination of a call. What I’m seeing is General Order 99!!!”

“Uh, Ok. Umm… Oops?”

It’s tough, Craig. It’s not the team’s fault people act that way. It’s not all the other good fans. But it leaves a black eye anyway.

I saw it in Houston once, about 25 years ago on a bad homerun call. Makes you a little ashamed to be there. Of course, these days, 15,000 people can’t throw very much on the field.
