Aww poor Jeter and Swisher……..maybe the cops should ignore you when you’re getting carjacked or your home broken into. It’s them and their willingness to uphold the laws of society that protect you from people taking what you have by force. Poor babies.

C’mon, These overpaid prima donnas are complaining that these two cops are what, breakin’ their ballplayer kharma by asking for a measly authograph? Yep, the officers should have waited until after the game; and I bet their sergeant is just thrilled at all the bad press they might be getting about now. But really, for Jeter and Swisher to be pissed is beyond me. Let’s see who asks for their autographs (especially Swisher’s) in a few years.

Officers shouldn’t have done it but its not a huge ordeal. Swisher was livid? You should be happy anyone is asking for your autograph. By the way, both those guys have probably been in situations a lot more stressful than a baseball game.

It lacks a ton of professionalism. The players are at work. They get heckled on the field. The dugout is their area and the officers interfered. When you work at a ballpark in that manner, be seen, not heard.

The Maryland State Police play for the Orioles? How does the unprofessionalism of two state employees reflect on the inexperience of the Orioles? Particularly since the guys pulling the baseball assignments are likely the same guys who pull the football assignments, where the Ravens make the playoffs every year. They’re just boneheads. Probably would be boneheads in NY, Boston, Tampa, or Des Moines…

I guess I’m in the camp with the posters here who feel this may not be a major issue. Yeah, maybe it lacks some professionalism and they may have been better to wait until the game was over, but Swisher was livid? Give me a break. Yo Swish, tell the cop you’ll sign as soon as the game is over and move on. And Jeter, come on man, don’t pretend you’ve never asked some clubhouse boy or usher to grab a hot girls info while the game was going on. Christ, you make Pat Burrell look like a choir boy…..

Not appropriate in terms of professionalism & timing, but among the types of misuse of authority that occur in the police force, this aint a big deal at all.

On the player side of things, Swish was understandably annoyed by an autograph request during a freaking playoff game, and being the eccentric spaz that he is probably made a big stink. Jeter being Jeter, he’s not gonna be that easily flappable and probably brushed it off with a terse “Not now, guys” on his way to taking a leak.

But dugout duty during postseason baseball has to be on the short list of most radass assignments for a cop, and these two likely ruined the best thing they had going for them.

The Troopers are there for a reason. Threats from some gambler tryin to improve his odds? Nut job in the stands? ARod, in particular, was very jittery in the batters box. He flinched at several non-baseball things last night. Like he wasnt totally zoned in. Again, the Troopers are there for a reason, and Jeter is fully within his rights to exprect them to do their job.

Wow, MSP @ Oriole Park for Security, I thought MSP got lost in Baltimore City, unless they are running errands for O’Malley. O wait, maybe that’s what they were doing, working for O’Malley. Seriously, they aren’t @ M&T Bank Stadium for the Ravens games & the place is sold out, there are 71,000 people there for every home game, BCP handle it just fine. Why would they need to bring them in for 47,000 fans @ OPACY? Doesn’t sound right, just sayin.

Come on, how is this a big deal? They probably provide the same protection as the guys who walk a football coach to the midde of the field (one of the biggest jokes in sports- especially when they travel with the team).

If they missed some assasin in the process of the autograph is one thing, but this is a case of people trying to look high and mighty when all these guys wanted was a signature. How long did it take- 10 seconds. More than enough for the Yankee players to thank the guys protecting them,
