When was the last time you took that train? I’d imagine that with the expansion of APG it would have seen some renovation, as the area has a lot more traffic now.

Weird that you didn’t mention that said farm team is owned by the Ripkens. Or that Cal and Billy et al are from Aberdeen. I mean, the team is named “Ironbirds”. You know, as in Cal’s knickname “the ironman.”

I spent a couple years taking the train to Philly for work, and I caught the train at Aberdeen in the morning. It’s a crummy little train station, barely more than a platform at the side of the tracks. The “train station” — such as it is — would have been closed at 3am. A lovely place, the Aberdeen train station.

Between the nearby cities on the East Coast (Washington to Boston), it is common for teams to take the train–or even the bus, if you remember the Angels’ bus crash in 1992 between Baltimore and New York–because it is more convenient and often faster than even chartered aircraft (not to mention far cheaper).

Since when do baseball teams ride trains back to their hometown? Yankees have a big enough payroll to put a crack into the earth, fill it with water and ride a cruise ship back!
