That was A’s baseball last night, in front of a full house and with the field chewed from football. I have nothing insightful to add about the game. Each postseason game gets a ton of national media scrutiny, and the obvious plays were all in the A’s favor: Anderson’s pitching, Crisp and Cespedes’ catches, Smith’s HR. But around the office there are smiles today, not the tight looks of worry that we saw yesterday. Now it’s true, I’m it for the A’s contingent here, the rest of the staff are major Giants fans (lots of orange on display lately-not just for Halloween). Still, there’s a common Bay Area bond when it comes to seeing at least one team advance, and hopefully both. In the back of everyone’s mind is that dim hope for a Bay Area series, a hope nobody dares express aloud.

I did see a scathing article denouncing Wolff/Fisher by one of the Chron guys yesterday. I totally agree with the writer, but question his timing. There is certainly a need by the local media to condemn the A’s ownership for all manner of sin, but not now, when nobody is listening.

What, in your world sweeps aren’t allowed? They did play well. But we have to give it to Anibal Sanchez as well, he pitched great. My Tigers just couldn’t hit, AND the A’s defense was amazing.

I wouldn’t call that play for Rolen all that easy. If he waits back on it the runner makes it to 1st no problem and the run scores. He had to charge and got a really bad inbetween hop. It was just a difficult play that he didn’t make.

And Phillips was a total TOOTBLAN.
