Background certainly wasn’t a problem in the 9th inning. Almost all the premium seats behind the plate were empty and some of those still there moved there from cheaper seats.

When teams hand out white rally towels (like the Phillies had in years past) even the moneybags behind homeplate will wave those around, which has a very similar effect, if not worse than a white out

Whenever teams do these white out, blackout things where they try to get all the fans to wear the same color is lame. Does this really do anything to intimidate the other team or make the home team play better? I dont really think so.

The Twins had the white Homer Hankies that everyone was waving back on ’87 and ’91. I don’t recall any errors directly attributed to anyone not being able to see a ball.

But, if it truly made a difference, shouldn’t every home team hold up something white when the other team is in the field, and put it down when the home team is in the field?

Not really, since “Natitude” is a marketing campaign. To the extent “Natitude” is a concept, it’s a concept based on telling fans how to root for the team. In ways that increase revenue.

BTW, the team is telling fans to express their “Natitude” by wearing red. What a surprise.

I find it funny how everybody talks about Obama as a “black” president, but nobody seems to talk about Jeter as a “black” ball player. I believe they are equally black, right? I suppose black presidents are more rare than black ball players, but still. Half is half.

It’s only Natitude if you are banning oppsing fans from buying tickets.Banning your own fans from wearing white is soemthign entirely different.

On a serious note, how White are we talking here? Egg Shell clearly is a no go, but what about Ivory, or Antique White?

Just like a batters eye in center are mostly black/dark colors, infielders can miss batted/thrown balls because people sitting behind home/around bases wear too much white. Much more likely if the majority of fans wear white.
