Pitching and defense win in the post-season. OAK will need 2 more perfect games like game 3. I don’t see it

Sometimes you run into a hot pitcher that gets some solid defense behind him.

If Crisp doesn’t rob that home run in the second inning the Tigers probably put up at least two runs in the inning.

Crisp’s catch was a game changer.

this team has a lot of holes, and your observations are correct. people are getting excited here after this past weekend but they are glossing over the very real problems of the 5-9 hitters, defense as a unit and bullpen issues. if they do end up getting through the A’s, their problems only become magnified as they advance.

but as you pointed out it’s not all doom and gloom. the rotation seems to be settling in nicely, and even in a loss sanchez continues to be solid. and let’s give oakland some well-deserved credit, they came home pinned to a wall in front of a fervent crowd and handled business. i expect more of the same from here on from them, and i would be surprised if this series didn’t go 5 games.
