Verlander averaged 114 pitches per start in 2012. 44 pitches thru 3 innings translates to to 14.66 pitches per inning. Assuming he only pitches his average 114 pitches, 14.66 pitches per inning would get him through 7.77, or essentially 7 2/3 innings. When you throw in the fact that Verlander regularly throws over 120 or even 130 pitches per start insinuating that forcing JV to throw 44 innings through 3 innings is a positive for the A's is laughable. Please do some actual thinking Matthew before you just type garbage.
