I was very happy for Raul. He is a class act all the way and will be welcomed back in Philly with open arms when his playing days are over.

Werth, on the other hand, is a different story. He had some good years with the Phils, and if he would have handled his exit better he might be welcomed back someday, but not now. He has just made too many stupid comments and his antics during the Nats last visit to Philly this year (where he faked-tossed balls to kids in the stands) have cemented his status on the Mt. Douchemore of ex-Phillies, along with Rolen, J.D. Drew and Billy Wagner.

As a Phillies fan, the Ibanez one doesn't bother me at all. He really holds no value to any team in the NL right now at 40 with no fielding skills. He would just be taking up a roster spot here. So it's nice to see him find a niche (even if it is with the hated Yankees)

Werth on the other hand.... I was one of many that laughed when he fled for the sad, sad Nationals. Now I sit here and silently weep.

Heya Mariner. I forgot Raul was a Boatman. That reminds me of something...but what? What??!! I know. It reminds me of this...

    Game after game, game after game,
    We struckout, nor walked nor reached on error;
    As idle as a Punto
    Upon a chalked line.

    Water, gatorade, every where,
    And all the strikezones did shrink;
    Players, great players, every where,
    But still, The Mariners did stink.

Ibanez is universally loved by Phillies fans. You never truly know the real person but he is perceived to be a great guy, like Thome. Pence? He was here for maybe a year total. I think everyone came to understand that he wasn't going to be the savior for the offense and was heading to becoming an overpaid free agent. He's a nice player at $8 million but will be a huge overpay when he gets his 5 years at $15 million per. Another great guy but I don't think Phillies fans necessarily miss him or hate him for any success with the Giants. One thing about Rolen. He was obviously disliked by the time he left. He was never going to sign and he went at Bowa and the fans as his excuse to leave. it's been argued over the years as to whether he was ridden out or he was always going to leave anyway because of his stated desire to go back to the midwest. A couple years ago Bowa was on the Mike Missanelli radio show in Philly and Bowa said he and Rolen patched things up and Rolen admitted to him that he never planned on resigning with the Phillies. He planned on signing with a midwest team when he got his free agency all along.

That's because Raul rocks. I miss him as a Mariner, and that was a million years ago.

Also, Mariners fans for the past five or six years have been tracking (and bemoaning) how many former Mariners end up in the playoffs (because so many of our former players end up playing better than they did as Mariners. Huh.). We usually have a pretty sizable contingent, this year less so. But the two obvious ones will probably get a ring, and I couldn't be happier for Ichiro! and Rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuul!

Raul was a Nats-killer, so it was hard to root for him even in Yankee-land. But if Jayson likes him, I like him. :)

I don't see Atlanta as out of it next year, that's a little pessimistic. Medlen full season, I didn't see any sign of Kimbrall slowing down, and although Larry put in a great final year, it was time. Without knowing what off-season moves are made, it seems like three teams bunched in the East, and two leftovers (Mets and Fish).

Omar Infante was never a Thing in Atlanta like Werth or Pence or Ibanez was. If someone like Francoeur had gone on to win in the postseason, that would have been different.

Omar was a nice story here, but nobody expected the team to be built around him and nobody expected him to command any huge payday or prospect haul once he left.

I'm happy for Jason Werth and Raul Ibanez...never liked Rolen very much..

just remember every time Craig posts, he comes from the land of the poster children for losing in the playoffs and obnoxious bottle throwing fans...

just because they got totally robbed by even needing to play that wild card in the first year of this format, and just because they lost because they choked and had the worst call in recent memory go against them, and just because this was the year they had the best chance, as hudson gets older, jones is retired, mccann can't play anymore and closers except for mariano rivera never have two great years in a row is no reason to throw bottles on a field for 20 minutes

Remarkably restrained trolling response today. I think that's why we like you guys. You self-troll so easily, but in the end you seem to get over it pretty quickly. That's a good trait in baseball; you never know what next year will bring.
