Coming from a bigtime Yankees fan, they deserve to lose this series...2nd and 3rd one out in the 8th and A-Rod can't even make contact to hit a fly ball? Not only that, it shows what little respect Buck and the O's have for him since they wouldn't even walk him to set up the double play, even if Cano was on deck...This team is entirely built around the home run, which is why they've done so poorly in the playoffs ever since they got A-Rod (outside of '09) and you could see last night that everyone was swinging to end the game rather than trying to put good at-bats together and manufacture a run...Granderson is awful at the plate (don't care how many home runs he hits) since he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat...This team just is not built the way a championship team needs to be built so I haven't expected any sort of deep playoff run all year and I'm not expecting one now...Even if they beat the O's, the Tigers will pound on them

For me to talk ,negative or positive, about Alex Rodriguez will be from a baseball fan point of view. He is a great player, his stats speak for themselfs, but I can't get out of my head how his production in the field has diminished ever since the HGH incident. He is not known to be a clutch hitter, in fact, I dare to say Yankees would've win those games without them. I kind of felt good when Red Sox catcher Veritek sucker punched him. As a Yankees fan, yes I've never embrace him, because and only because my "perspective" of him at that moment was all he care was money, not that he was joining one of the greatest sport franchise. I can name guys like Tino Martinez who kill the yanks the previous year they acquire him, Boggs Yankees nemesis for many years, Mike Mussina who came to NY for more money but also Joe Torre's phone call talking about what it meant to a Yankees, and all of these players became Yankees fan faves and beloved players, because they carry themselfs like gentleman, at least that is my perspective. I am Dominican decedent and even that doesn't make me warm up to him, as a Yankees fan. I don't think Alex consider himself a true Yankees, and he walks those grounds almost everyday. Good luck to him trying to win yanks hearts at this stage of his career,

Girardi letting Arod hit in the 8th was monumentally stupid.

O'Day has just straight man-handled him, both for their careers and ESPECIALLY in this series. He clearly barely picks the ball up coming out of his hand and hasn't so much as put one good swing on so much as one pitch in their match-ups this series.

Yet, with one out, men on 2d & 3d in the 8th, with several lefties on the bench to choose from (Gardner to break up DP if they IBB him, Chavez to move straight to 3B if needed or Ibanez..because he's Ibanez) he lets Alex just flail helplessly at 3 pitches and concedes an out.

All with "Mr. 1 for 366 w/ RISP in his post-season career" coming up behind him.

Then later he PH's Ibanez with 2 outs for Nix...who was swinging a hot bat & then Chavez with 2 outs in last desperate gasp in 13th.

You leave relatively useless and completely over-matched Arod in when all ya need is a good sac fly...then use your pinch-hiters when you need a long-shot HR.

Fabulous in-game management on display.
