Hey there is always hope to see Swisher, Ganderson, Ibanez, Martin, Cano or one of the others hit one out of the park. There is no HOPE to see Rodriguez do anything but strike out or hit into a double play. However far the Yankees go in the playoffs, I want to see Rodriguez sit glued to the bench.

Girardi is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. If he changes the lineup, he’s “messing with what has worked”; if he doesn’t, he’s “too loyal and set in his ways”.

OTOH, if the Yankees win this series, he’s a genius.

It all comes down to winning. Especially in New York.

(BTW, I’m on Joe’s side here. The regular batting order hasn’t been getting it done.)

Anthy14 are you 14 years old????? Baseball players’ playing time is only about 5.5 years. Before writing nonsense look at the statistics a tiny minority of players are playing at 37. IT IS AGE! AGE ages the body. The coordination, muscles, tendons and eyes are not the same when the person was 20. The body ages tremendously after 30 and that is why it is the height of stupidity on behalf of the yankees to sign ANYONE who will be over 35 when the contract expires. There was one stand out exception TED WILLIAMS. But however stupid the yankee management is, someone in the front office if he is not afraid of the owners should tell them that 35 is over the hill for baseball players.
You want stats? Rodriguez got about 1/6 the entire Yankee baseball player’s salaries. Now being a “SUPERSTAR” he should have gotten more than 1/6 the game tying and game winning hits in the games the Yankees won. DUHHHHHH he didn’t even come close to 1/10. Check the stats. And for you Rodriquez lovers you cannot use the reverse logic that since everyone else is not up to par, then it is normal that Rodriguez should not. It is just the opposite thinking. When the team is down that is when Rodriguez should SHINE AND CARRY THE LOAD! $30,000,000 says hey numbskull that is what you are being paid for!

We all know that A Rod is the best on the planet and Yada, Yada, Yada! He has come down in every category since he came off the steroids, which contrary to what he admitted to, was only 5 years ago. He’s gotten hurt every year since, he doe not recover nearly as quickly as he used to, and he can’t catch up with even an 88 MPH fastball. This is not because he is 37 years old!
Let’s look at some of the other overarching issues……Granderson (who I really like), Swisher (who I really like) and A Roid are 5 for 79 with RISP!!! 5 FOR 79!!! So what does Joe Girardi do in Game 1….he drops A Roid down to 6th right between Swisher and Granderson. Hmmmmmmm, yes that makes sense! Yankees win in spite of their over complicating and over thinking manager. Let’s get some “Bronx Bunters” in the lineup. Small ball wins every time!

What don’t you understand? He is 37 years old. Ancient by baseball standards. Psychologically, he knows he is set for life NOW and has $150 million dollars coming GUARANTEED! DUDE!!!!!! When you know you don’t have to lift a finger and can’t even get a god damn sacrificed fly that would have won the game, a player is not going to go all out to do ANYTHNG!
He cheated, got beefed up with steroids to get the big contract then some idiot in the Yankee organization thought it would be wonderful to have a steroid freak with the largest major league contract playing for them. THEN IT IS WOE IS ME WHEN HE HAS TO STOP THE STEROIDS and become a subpar player. It takes that much thinking to understand?
You do know that every horse at every major track in the U.S. that comes in 1st 2nd and 3rd get tested for drugs and has for the last 30+ years. Baseball was only 30 years behind horse raising in testing for performance enhancing drugs. Now you reap who you sowed. Had Gozalez got that rbi sac fly with the 4 run comeback, the Yankees would have won last night. Trade the cheat for what you can get for him and close the book!
