As soon as the Giants learned they would be facing the Cardinals in the NLCS, they announced that Madison Bumgarner will start Game 1 on Sunday night while Ryan Vogelsong will start Game 2 on Monday.

This sets up Matt Cain to start Game 3 on Wednesday in St. Louis and a possible Game 7 back in San Francisco. Meanwhile, Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com believes Tim Lincecum will return from the bullpen to start Game 4.

Bumgarner allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings in a Game 2 loss to the Reds in the NLDS. Meanwhile, Vogelsong tossed five innings of one-run ball in Game 3.

The Cardinals have yet to announce their rotation for the NLCS, but Lance Lynn is expected to start Game 1 while Chris Carpenter will likely get the ball in Game 2.

18th century politics, Federalist Fireworks as Madison and Jay square off for first pitch of NLCS! The Prez vs. the Chief Justice.

Lance Lynn expected for game 1, huh? He’s an Assplosion Artist. Ok, fine. The Cards are big game, come from behind, never say day, cliche driven MONSTERS. They gonna need to be if Lance-y Boy is pitching anything. Good luck boys.

Thanks Cur. I look for Lance to rebound nicely (although I appreciate where you are coming from).
You don’t win 18 games by accident (run support or no run support).
I expect a very competitive series. Go Cardinals!

This really is going to be a great series. The last two World Champions, and despite the hype for the Cardinals, people seem to be forgetting the Giants just had a nice little comeback of their own. Besides the teams, the Cardinals have maybe the premier class fans in all of baseball, and the support the Giants get in San Francisco is as crazy and fanatical as anything you can find anywhere. Cannot wait! Sure wish we still had Beltran though. Go Giants!
