As for “deserving to be here,” well, the Cards played by the same rules as all the other teams, and here they are.

Storen threw a first pitch strike to Molina that was inexplicably called a ball. Then he threw two more strikes to him – and game over right? Well, no. And now the rest is history. I congratulate the Cardinals on being the best 5th-place team ever to play for the NLCS. I don’t think they’ll find much favor around the league for some years to come. Besides today’s game and getting jobbed by the umps, I don’t know any fans of any team who think the Cards deserve to be here after their relatively pathetic regular season.
