The Yankees just announced their roster for the ALCS against the Tigers. And yes, Alex Rodriguez is on it.

According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, infielder Eduardo Nunez has been left off the roster while right-hander Cody Eppley has been added. The Yankees had 11 pitchers and 14 position players for the ALDS against the Orioles, but they’ll go with 12 pitchers this time around.

Andy Pettitte will oppose Doug Fister in Game 1 of the series tonight, but Joe Girardi has yet to announce any plans beyond that. However, carrying Eppley is a possible indication that David Phelps will start Game 2 tomorrow. The alternative would be to use Hiroki Kuroda on short rest.

I can understand this move, Nunez is too much of a liability on defense( and Gardner is back) and not all that much with the bat. Eppley can be tough on right handed batters, plus you never have too much pitching.

AROD should not be on the roster,I don’t care how much he makes,he sucks in the postseason. FYI,I’m a die hard Yankees fan.

“FYI,I’m a die hard Yankees fan.”

I think that goes without saying.

Wow- we’re going to lose the services of someone who can’t field and swings at every damn thing at the plate.

Not surprising. With a 7 games series it’s prudent for the Yankees to add the 12 pitcher. Let’s be honest Nunez is a liability on defense and he did almost nothing when given the opportunity offensively in the ALDS. Nix is a much better option at this point both offensively and defensively to help out at SS and Chavez always has been a much better option for 3rd base. Just no where for Nunez in this series.

BTW, I’m just very glad NO Jones and No Freddy.

My friend, I think they’re both ( Jones & Garcia ) finished wearing pinstripes.

2012 is my concern as well it should be yours! I have no feelings of loyalty owed to arod who by the way opted out of his contract in 04 just as the sox were winning the WS !! He should be held accountable for his horrid performance and left off the roster! 09, that was then. He did what he’s getting paid boat loads of cash to do, now like any job if you’re failing then give another a shot to step up and try, certainly couldn’t do worst then this doughnut ?
Arod is not going to go away so he is a pain Yankee fans must learn to live itch for a few years more. Me, I’m not there yet.

There’s a huge difference between being loyal to someone and being ignorant of the facts.

    • djpostl - Oct 13, 2012 at 6:23 PM

      He opted out in ’07

eric & church… this is just the beginning of the Arod saga, get ready for some lively discussions pro and con. It’s going to be interesting.

What facts are those church? The fact that he’s way over paid and that back end of his contract which is coming quick if it hasn’t begun already will be a burden for the rest of the actual contributing players and fans who pay enormous sums just to take their family’s to a baseball game and pay 7.50 $ for a small soda 15.00 $ for a burger cause of greedy overrated cheaters like aroid? That was a hell if a long sentence! Ha! Ignorant would be better used for those who actually think this guy did what he was paid to do! I go to the stadium every year since before Donnie baseball. Arod except or 09 has never really mattered and has been a Bain and embarrassment to True honest Yankee fans throughout his tenure. If you want to go digging up stats be my guest, but its easier to sum it up in this analogy. He’s like a guy who goes 6 for 6 in a 24 to 3 game, hits four hr’s knocks in 7 runs yet he only does it when it doesn’t matter. Stop trying to rally to his cause it just makes you look small.
