Detroit’s home unis are classic, but even as someone who loathes the Yankees, I have to say that their home uniforms are the best. Both are simple and understated. Both organizations are smart in not messing with what has worked for so long.

The uniforms I really dislike are the “batting practice” color jerseys worn with white pants. They look like softball uniforms. I keep expecting to see “Lou’s Garage” on the front.

Gator, remember that Joe Torre won a batting title, and he was one of the slowest players ever. Heck, Ernie Lombardi was a batting champion, and he had the reputation of being slower than a horse-drawn milk wagon.

Great so now we’ll get rolled the next three and have a whole offseason of “What should we do with A-Rod/rest of the team”…Maybe it’s time Kevin Long goes and we get someone who will slap some sense into this lineup and stop their awful habit of trying to hit home runs every at bat…I’ve never seen people swing so hard in extra innings, all because they’re trying to end it in one swing…Hey, here’s a crazy idea: let’s get a single, another single, and maybe a third single and wow, a run! It is permissible to score a run in extra innings without hitting a home run! Bench Swisher, start Gardner, and let’s make the best out of this last series and retool for next year

I would never have predicted that anyone as slow afoot as Miggy would be able to win a batting title when you subtract all those squibs and grounders to deep short he wouldn’t be able to run out successfully, but lookee there what happened anyway. Baseball is deliciously unpredictable. If Ron Paul can be elected President, then Prince Fielder is fast enough to win the triple crown – even if the track at Belmont does tend to get a little muddy sometimes.
