LCS ratings are way up so far this year

Oct 15, 2012, 4:32 PM EDT

old TV

Some of us may be lamenting the lack of fresh faces in the LCS, but the old reliable warhorses from New York, Detroit, St. Louis and San Francisco are drawing the ratings in the LCS so far.  Through the first three games:

Through the first two days of LCS coverage, FOX  and TBS are averaging 6.3 million viewers, a +39% increase over the corresponding days in 2011, according to data from Nielsen … NLCS Game One drew a 41.5 rating in St. Louis, the best rating for a non-elimination LCS game on record (since at least 1998).

Good for Fox, TBS and the folks in St. Louis if you’re into that sort of thing.

Apparently not “everyone” hates the Cardinals right?

Unless Brandon Phillips has enough TVs to account for a 41.5 TV rating

Hating the Cardinals and watching them on TV are not mutually exclusive.

What gigab0t said. I actively root against 50% of the remaining teams (Yanks & Cards) and am indifferent to the other 50%. Still love baseball though, so yeah…

Let’s remember that 2/3 of the games so far involved the loved/hated Yankees. That may distort the sample somewhat.

can i ask why the tigers are lumped into “old reliable warhorses” group? they have yet to win a championship since 1984, and they have only been to the world series once (2006) since then.

hardly seems like passé, but hey, maybe your rooting interests lie with teams with “flair”. or, at the very least, a fanbase you can work into a lather with some well-timed blog daggers.

The Tigers are perennial post-seasoners…they have made the ALCS a handful of times recently. Yawn yawn yaaawwwn….except watching Verlander. That always is awesome to see. Of the remaining teams though, I will root for the Tigers since they won the least recently.

How did it do against football yesterday? (not trying to be a weiner, just curious)

really youre going to brag about the St Louis being loved?

Detroit has the Lions, Pistons taking up time right now as well..

the Cardinals are the only thing worth talking about in St Louis..

I’m not a fan of any of the remaining teams, but I’ll watch every game. Playoff baseball is playoff baseball. Sure I wish my team were still alive…but even teams I don’t like: it’s playoff baseball.
