Well, again, most of what I said was on Howard not Rollins. And the point was that these guys are uncoachable – so what if Rollins thinks he should be the lead off hitter? Roy Halladay doens’t want to come out of games, is he uncoachable? As for comments that he doesn’t wnat to change his approach – again, so what? Do you have quotes from his coaches that he should change his approach? More specifically, other then general hub-ub comments that get made about everyone, what hitting coach has ever said Rollins won’t listen to them? They said it about Burrell, they said it about Rolen, they said it about Charlie Hayes, never heard that about Rollins

But that is getting into exceution – in what way to Rollins and Howard not take advice? Honestly, neither one of them have that wrap.

Howard can’t lay off the sliders, but that is getting overly anxious, he doesn’t go up there and say “They can’t tell me what to do!”

Howard’s approach at the plate has been screwed up ever since he worked with Barry Bonds on his hitting that one off-season. Someone needs to unteach whatever Barry taught him.

Caminiti gave him the phone number of a steroid dealer, and he later received steroid pills in the mail via Caminiti. Joyner admitted to taking just three pills before deciding to stop. Joyner’s admission was published in an ESPN special report entitled Who Knew?”

There are times when to swing for the fences and there are times to utilize situational hitting. Considering they are on their 3rd hitting coach in 4 years indicates that you cannot fire the player.

Well, I think the latter is more true – that they want to develop young hitters. However, I have to say “thick skulls like Rollin and Howard”? I have heard TONS of criticism of Howard, that is the first time I have ever heard anyone call him uncoachable. And really, since when has Rollins had that wrap? People criticize other attributes, but since when does he not take advice?

Wally Joyner, while talented, was not overflowing with talent. He is a guy who got by on smarts and intuition. This is a great hire. However, It will be tough to get through the thick skulls of guys like JRoll and Howard. If Victorino was still here, good luck with that brain too. But, if you are looking to develop young hitters like Dom Brown, Darin Ruf, Galvis and others in the future, this your guy. Now they need to make Dubee assistant Pitching Coach and convince Leo Mazzone to unretire

“Wally World” never was able to sustain his initial splash as a hitter with the Angels, but he was a very competent professional. He was a tough out, if not one who inspired fear in the opposition.

Good hire. I was a little afraid they’d go after Matt Stairs. Not sure I want everyone to swing for the fences on every at-bat.
