I thought early on that the loss of Berkman’s bat could be a problem for the Cards. At that point I was doubly glad the they had picked up Beltran. But it appears they have things well in hand with the present cast. Freese is better than I thought he would be. Good player development.

He may pick up where he left off, but hard to top that last strike stuff! Most clutch hitting possible. Icewater in his veins—-of course he’s named Freese.

Good stuff, Matt—thanks. Having Freese healthy and productive this year has been a real boost to this team (his defense has come a long way, too), and it’s a ton of fun to see him pick up where he left off last October.

Dude is a solid player. Has been since he joined the club. But he certainly seems to step up the biggest when the stage is at it’s highest.
