And That Happened: Wednesday’s playoff highlights

Oct 18, 2012, 5:59 AM EDT

Grounds crew members pull the tarp over the infield of Comerica Park in Detroit during Game 4 of the MLB ALCS baseball playoff series in Detroit

Cardinals 3, Giants 1: Thanks to the 2008 World Series, the regular rules with respect to rain delays are out the window in the postseason leading to days like we had yesterday, with a rain delay that lasted 20 minutes longer than the actual total game time did. Oh well, given how many ducks the Giants left on the pond yesterday it was somehow appropriate that it was so soggy.  If you can’t score more than one run on seven hits and five walks you don’t deserve to win anyway.

Yankees vs. Tigers: POSTPONED: One really has to question A-Rod’s value as a player and commitment to the team if he wasn’t willing to change the weather yesterday so they could get this game in.

    Nine hits, but who’s counting?

OMG, with such thin happenings in the AL yesterday what will we talk about all day to get us through to the game this afternoon???? C-Squared is going to have to put up some more fashion/booze/video posts for us to argue over in the meantime.

Ah, I guess we all just take gms and managers at their word now. Chavez has been just as awful so if you really believe arod was benched solely on performance that is your prerogative. But I’m that naive. The writers opinions are warranted

Of course, because the Yankees would rather lose the World Series than deal with the possibility that one of their single players was having sex. Makes sense to me.

The real issue being, of course, that A-Rod wasn’t tasteful enough to send a gift basket.

It may have been better to try to squeeze in a game last night than it will Friday night, based on current weather forecasts in Detroit.

What, Tigers fan? That suggests you think there will be another game necessary.

Long rain delay in St Louis. I get it. What I don’t get is once the game resumed I could not finish watching it on TBS, TNT or AtBat 2012 as the NLCS is not part of the package.

I guess The Big Bang Theory (and I am not talking about the ongoing A-Rod saga) is more important than actually finishing a game on national TV, even if it is TBS.

Typical for Selig, disgusting for Baseball.

Um, it was on Fox. But, let me get started on how you get games for free while AL fans have to pay for them.
