It should be Dombrowski! Think about it:

Scherzer throws 6 strong in the 4th win, Phil Coke puts the end cap on 3 games, and Austin Jackson had a great series including a HR. Throw in Granderson being benched game 4, (Edwin Jackson has moved on also) and you have one hell of a 3 team trade for the Tigers!

The Tigers are NOT in the World Series without that trade. Thanks Yankees!

No one needs to “lure him away” – the Tigers don’t plan on resigning Delmon Young with Victor Martinez returning next year as their DH and a low opinion of Young’s outfield defense. They already fell once for the “let’s give the post-season hero another chance” routine.

agreed…dude is clutch money in the playoffs but he had a really terrible regular season…he has just shy of 800 PA in 1.3 yrs regular season with us at 268/296/422 with the worst LF defense I’ve ever seen ( and I’ve seen Johnny Damon, Manny Ramirez and Juan Pierre) and at age 26 is slower than most 40 year old players…tiny little chop steps he takes drive me nuts….are his legs too short for his torso? Looks that way….runs like a foot-bound geisha

He’s smoked the Yankees back to back years in the playoffs, but the Oakland series and TX last yr he was crap…

Somebody will think they can play him in LF for 100 games and DH the rest and pay him 2/$16 w/a $2m buyout and $10m team option yr 3…and they might get a deal….but he is what he is…a 275 15-18 HR guy with negative fielding value, negative baserunning value, no on base ability who gets really hot for 2-3 weeks 3 times a year, one of which is the playoffs. I’ll take Victor Martinez’s .310/375/470 low strikeout switch hitting at the DH slot who can switch with Prince a few times a year at 1b the next 2 years….

whoever wants DY – please, take him. he has no place in detroit next year with martinez slated to come back at DH full time, and the tigers have no room for his outfield shenanigans. not to mention the whole thing where you pay a guy a year’s salary for a month of good performance.

not worth it, IMO. and yeah, there’s that whole jew-hating thing, too. ughh… get this guy outta here after he hits 3 HR in the WS, please!

I’m fine with giving Young the series MVP. He played well this week.

But my God, you cannot call him a class act under any circumstances. He threw his bat at an umpire. He assaulted a man and used anti-Semitic slurs.

I’m hesitant to include this, because it is from a while ago and I can’t seem to find reports, but I’m pretty sure I remember his antics (along with Elijah Dukes) leading to Durham threatening to end their AAA farm agreement with the Rays if either player returned to the minors.

Even without the last part, he just isn’t a good guy. I wish Bud Selig had said it instead of poor Ms. Autrey so I could really get angry at who made the comment and not just the comment itself.

I’m hoping the Sox will attempt to lure him away. He’ll never be a superstar, he always be a little bit frustrating, but he is a good fit for what they will be trying to do this offseason.

Incidentally, John & Susan were convinced that Cabrera would be MVP. I’m pretty sure Sterling even let a ‘Melky’ slip. Susan was worried that NY writers were already gonna blame the entire series on A-Rod.
