They know if you have season tickets “you have money”, so they don’t worry about you. They’re worried about the casual, “day of game” decision fan: movie or ballgame?

this is intresting since i recieved a call from the white sox box office to tell me that my season tickets were increasing because they have rezoned them to be better seats so they need to charge more for them. when i asked about the news that i heard they were lowering prices they said yes but in the nosebleeds really is this what they think will bring the people in? SO is this price shifting?

If by research they mean knowing that the CTA red line will be closed for part of the baseball season then sure I guess that works. This is just a ploy to try and get more fans the park next year because the easiest mode of transportation for people in the city won’t be available unless you take the green line and walk a little bit further. They know people don’t want to drive or bus it through all the traffic. Watch after next year we will see a headline similar to “Chicago White Sox have single largest ticket price increase in league history” once the transportation lines get opened back up.

I think they (the Pohlads) are going to be in for a big surprise next year. I’m sure it’s already started with the season ticket renewals. Most people I know with plans are saying screw it I’ll just go on stub hub and buy tickets at a discount to a handful of games that I actually choose. It could be ugly.

Someone with the ChiSox is going to get a nasty e-mail from the Yankees and Red Sox. Cutting ticket prices? Cheaper parking? Trying to make going to a ballgame affordable for mere mortals? The nerve, the gall, the unmitigated audacity! This aggression will not stand!

Not only that, but had they not commissioned this report, they might have been able to lower the prices of 60% of the ball park an average of 28%.

1. Kudos to the White Sox for lowering ticket prices.

2. Surely the White Sox did not need to “commission a comprehensive research project” in order to come to the conclusion that fans like cheaper tickets.
