I don’t know what they see…but he was with the RS for a while…so they must have a pretty good idea of what they are getting, what his attitudes/approaches/philosophies are….and must think they are consistent with their current approach to baseball.

The Jays will be lucky to get any kind of prospect for Farrell…the best they can hope for from an MLB roster is an over-paid veteran that isn’t useless…in all likelihood, they’ll get a couple of fringy guys that have bench player or reliever ceilings.

Of course, those pirates teams were freaking loaded with talent…I loved those teams when I was a kid (the Cardinals were horrible then, the Pirates were a fun team to root for after about June, when it was clear the Cardinals weren’t going to be competitive)….I always loved the combo of the flat-top hats and the afros.

I don’t get it, can someone explain to me why the Sox brass is so enamored with this guy? Did they watch the Blue Jays at all this year? Which team finished in 4th place for two consecutive years under Farrell’s leadership? Which team had players openly questioning their teams management (besides Red Sox)? As a life-long Red Sox fan, I’d much rather see them take a chance on Ausmus or hire someone like Pena than go with Farrell.

Speaking of pitching, in a Toronto radio interview, impending free agent Sean Marcum said that Toronto is around the top of his list. He does not care who the manager is as long as coaches Bruce Walton and Brian Butterfield are retained. Marcum never wanted to be traded by the Jays; however, he was sent to Milwaukee for Lawrie. If looks like he is eager to return.

Pedroia for Farrell and Escobar works. The Jays should not give away their manager for an untested prospect especially given the despicable way the Red Sox have gone after him..

I love the Sox, but Farrell is a pitching coach who, with solid talent in Toronto, had a crappy pitching staff. I don’t get it. But I don’t understand anything the Sox do anymore.

This makes no sense. The Blue Jays have underachieved under Farrell the past 2 years. Plus, AL Managers are the most worthless head coaching positions in all of sports. Why give away prospects for someone that doesn’t swing the bat or throw a single pitch? This is why the Sox are becoming a laughing stock once again.

I can’t imagine the Red Sox are silly enough to give up a player of substantial value for a manager….especially one whose current team is so willing to give up. There are plenty of good managerial candidates for free…as there were last year….seems the Red Sox just insist on making things more complicated than necessary.
