If a person is paying 30 dollars for food and programs, they’ve made a concious decision that this is worth the money. If they arent happy about what they’re seeing, they have the option to stay away.

If the prices are too high, you need to make your voice known by staying away from the games and not booing the players.

Personally, i dont care about someone feeling they’ve paid ‘too much’ for the entertainment experience and that experience hasnt been met because i want to win games, that’s all most true fans care about. Why would you want to hurt the feelings of your own players, they’re trying as hard as they can, sometimes you arent going to win, i don’t get all the hometown booing, it makes no sense to me why fans would boo their own guys.

Do Pirates or Royals fans boo constantly, game after game? I would guess not. Those fans arent even in playoff games and yet, their fans don’t boo. Could you imagine the Royals or the Pirates being boo’d off the field in all 81 home games year after year after year? You have to imagine that fans of those teams don’t like what they’re seeing either, why don’t they constantly boo?

I’m a sox fan. I went to the 7/22 game against Toronto. The one where Lester gave up a home run to the first batter. I boo’d so much that I was horse the rest of the day.
As I told my son, when they do good you reward them with cheers. When they stink you shower them with boos.
Pre ’04 that was the norm. Now we have pansies like richwizl who think we should all hold hands at the park and sing kumbya my lord. Go back to duxbury or whatever sissy town you come from, nancy. Leave the sox to the real fans.

Absolutely not. I am not only a fan of a team (the Pittsburgh Pirates) but I am a fan of the sport. I know that when I pay for a ticket, I get to watch people who are among the best in the world at what they do play a sport that I love.

Nowhere did I say that you needed to see everybody on the bench get a chance to play. One can certainly cheer and hope for their team to win. That is what being a fan is all about.

My issue is with fans who don’t understand how difficult this sport is to play. Really, what does booing accomplish? You’re not happy they didn’t get a hit? Guess what? Neither are they!

I take no issue with saying that some of the Yankees’ best players had a poor postseason, but the price of your ticket should not equate to the expectation of a win, or the right to attempt to publicly shame athletes.

Perhaps if many fans understood the sport or played it at a higher level, they’d understand the difficulty of the sport and have some sense of compassion.

I would say the most demanding in baseball. If they were the worse fans, they wouldn’t show up and demonstrate their displeasure with the quality of play and the quality of the players. The pitchers did a good job, but the hitters should be ashamed of themselves.
The team is getting paid $200,000,000 to put out on the field good players that have to be adults and understand that booing comes from the fans WHO ARE PAYING THEIR SALARIES AND ARE ANGRY AT THE LEVEL OF PLAY THEY PAID MILLIONS TO SEE.
If the players don’t want to hear the boos, then renounce their contracts today and let the Yankees resign the players on a performance basis and get players from the minors and the free market that comes up.
It is sheer lunacy to sign a baseball player to a $30,000,000 contract until he is 42. Ted Williams in his life time earned $1.4 million dollars in 19 seasons. Rodriguez in 19 seasons earned over 500 times as much. Baseball is broken.

Personally, I can’t see myself booing guys that have been “my guys” all season. I would be very sad, disappointed, perhaps embarrassed, but I only boo the bad guys on the other team, if they’ve done something bad, usually off the field. I’m a longtime RSox fan and I even felt sympathy for guys like Swisher, Grandy and Cano for some reason. They just got severely humbled by Detroit and the game itself.
