BasilThaRat (LOVE that Fawlty Towers reference by the way!)

I agree the Rangers would seem to be a good match, but I'm not sure Andrus alone gets a deal done. Also, the Rangers could be losing significant production at two positions (and while Moreland/Olt could more than replace what they lose at 1B) I'm not sure they'd want to weaken another position (especially one as important as SS), in the short term, to replace OF production - which is easier to find.

I'll throw these combo's into the ring of speculation: Ellsbury/Rubby De La Rosa or De La Rosa/Iglesias (though it would be understandable if no team jumps at the chance to trade for Iglesias, he may be a more effective offensive player in a place like Arizona.)

If I were the Indians I would make a push for B.J. Upton and trade Francisco Lindor for Justin, It obviously wouldn't be a straight up trade but Lindor is one of the best SS prospects and baseball and the Tribe needs right handed bats terribly.

I'm sure the fact that B.J. hasn't been the star he was expected to be fuels his "disinterested" rep, but it's a load of hooey. Just ask any of the guys who cover the Rays.

It'd be fun if Tampa Bay traded for Justin after losing B.J., but it obviously isn't going to happen. There's a very obvious match out there: The Rangers, who have two excellent young shortstops and are probably going to need an outfielder. Andrus for Upton could be one of those deals that helps both teams.

Don't be fooled by nonsense talk radio or misinformed and simpleminded perceptions in national media.
Upton to the Yanks for Nunez, Nova and a prospect? Id love to see this guy replace Swish..Nova's stuff will translate well in the Natl league west and Nunie just needs time to develop in the field (an opportunity he wont have for another 2 or 3 yrs in the Bronx)..Plus we all know we can afford Upton's deal...

Most teams probably value him about as much as they did coming into 2012, which was as a borderline MVP candidate. He just turned 25 a couple of months ago, and had great seasons as a 21 yr old and 23 yr old. For his skills, his contract is very reasonable over the next 3 years...that won't be an impediment to most teams.

The Feesh probably won't trade JJ over the weenter, especially not now that they were able to unload Heath Bar Bell without having to package him with anyone with substantial upside. The peetcher that the Feesh are most likely to try to move, now that they've stupidly unloaded Anibal Sanchez, is Reecky Nolasco and his evil pod twin.

As far as JJ, I suspect that the Feesh notochord trust is going to give him till around the July trade deadline next season to assess whether he has fully recovered from last weenter's surgery. There's a strong school of thought down here that hold his early season struggles and missing velocity were a result of the surgery, and that with another season of rest he'll be closer to what he was before he hurt himself in March. We shall see.

What do you mean? Who couldn't use a 30 yr old SS that is an indifferent fielder, can't hit, and has a history of just not giving a shit? Don't get me wrong, he's every bit as good (or bad) as Mike Aviles.....but there just aren't that many mediocre middle infielders laying around....I mean, every team only has at least 3 guys that can field but can't hit on their AA and AAA clubs. We are talking a rare resource here.
