KC Royals. They hire extra hitting coaches but they won’t pay for players. Pay-less, that’s the Wal-Mart way.

Are we certain that the title held by hitting coach #2 is that of Assistant Hitting Coach and not Assistant to the Hitting Coach? The distinction is huge.

It might seem more reasonable if you could teach hitting. As I understand, these guys pretty much watch tapes and advise players of any bad habits they have picked up. And even that is generally on a voluntary basis. Unless the tapes keep putting the #1 coach to sleep, I’m not sure why you need two.
