Laird can’t hit shit though. In our last blow-out against the Stanks, Laird was the weak link (3rd out w/ bases loaded) and he allows more stolen bases than Avila. Hitting being even, it’s better to have Avila in for the better defense at home plate.

Actually Avila is terrible vs. left handed pitching, as much as I like the guy. We can all look forward to a few pitiful swings tonight vs. Zito. And Laird has actually been something of a pleasant surprise, although I must stress only in his limited role.
