As expected the Red Sox have named a new bench coach in Torey Lovullo, who comes with new manager John Farrell from Toronto.

Lovullo was the Blue Jays’ first base coach on Farrell’s staff, but replaces Tim Bogar as the bench coach in Boston. Bogar, who yesterday spoke out against Bobby Valentine’s comments regarding the coaching staff undermining him, will not be back with the Red Sox in 2013.

Lovullo previously had a stint as the Red Sox’s manager at Triple-A Pawtucket and was a candidate to replace Terry Francona last offseason, but Boston chose Valentine instead.

No surprise at all. Lovullo followed Farrell to Toronto. The Boston media has had stories indicating that other Toronto coaches are candidates to join Farrell. The coaches mentioned in the Boston media have been long time loyal members of the Blue Jay organization and might be quite reluctant to move to Boston.

Much to the dismay of the fans in Toronto.

All we know for sure, is that Farrell is an unproven manager, and that senior management of the Red Sox are complete scumbags.

proudlycanadian – i think that description of Cherington is a bit harsh, and too generous to his employers.

Ah yes, the great Torey Lovullo. I have so many fond memories of him as a Yankee.
