Who’s calling Sabean a genius? Lately, his track record is outstanding. What you’re bringing up is old news. Even the Yankees are acting a bit more circumspect. The Dodgers are the latest big spenders. The Giants haven’t been able to really spend. They’re in better shape, and will no doubt do more than they have in the recent past. Try to stay up to date with your information.

Clyde, the 2 mill is not an extension. It’s a buyout. If the Giants pay the 2 mill to buy out Huff, he will NOT be with the Giants next year.

Do you know what the hell you’re talking about? Check out the Bumgardner contract and tell me Sabean is not a genius.

Sabean pickups this year: Pagan, Blanco, Theriot, Scutaro, Kontos, Mijares, Arias, Pence and only gave away Torres, C. Stewart, R. Ramirez, Schierholtz, J. Sanchez. You know why you didn’t hear about their years???…..they sucked, that’s why.

Lastly, if you read national writers, there is a HUGE acclaim developing for the Giants’ system, their manager and their GM….and it started growing long before this postseason started.

It was way too much money, but it was only a two year deal so I have a hard time finding much fault with it. But it will be nice for the Giants to finally shed Huff’s and Rowand’s contracts next year. The Giants should be in pretty good shape payroll wise this offseason.

Huffy, we’ll always have good thoughts about you and 2010. Wouldn’t have won it that year without you. Thanks and best of luck.
Amazing what happens when you get a big raise and nice extension though. Really hurt the team last year when they were screaming for some offense and this year it was obviously over even before the gooofy injury jumping over the rail for Cain’s perfect game celebration. It will be interesting to see what Belt does with the position next season. He’s already a great defender.

Also signing Huff to a 2+ extension is one of the reasons people shouldn’t call Sabean a Genius. The Giants won 2 world series with a lot of dead money.

Their pitching drafting, credit to sabean, kept them in both.

Before you hit thumbs down, I am not saying he is a terrible GM, just one that, like the yankees, can afford bad contracts.

Huff actually crashed in 2011 and burned in 2012. Too bad, he was an integral part of the 2010 WS team, hit the longball and was the Hunter Pence of the dugout and locker room (although I will take the motivational speeches over the rally thong). Not a bad buy out and the 22M he earned the last two years will make for a cushy landing. Hopefully he can get his head together be it in baseball or not.
