Pitching and defense win world series……I think the Giants would have Detroit’s number again if they get that far. Assume Lincecum has a normal (for him) year…..no team would touch the Giants in post season. The great unknown are the injuries, etc…..but if they can get to post season, the Giants have a HUGE advantage (especially with their home park negating any big hitting teams like Detroit).

All this tells us is how the oddsmakers have to set the odds to make the most money.

I’m sure statheads can come up with adjusted odds taking into account the various sets of gamblers that tend to bet on each team, and how that alters what the actual odds of a team winning the WS should be.

Taking suggestions on the acronym and what it stands for, unless, of course, it already exists.

Both the Yankees and the Tigers played (probably) their worst baseball of all year during their perspective series (both 4-game sweeps). Imagine if they could have managed to play their average-ball. Hell, imagine if they could have played their best-ball.

Post season is always a crap shoot.

Seems that the Tigers benefit from being a good team in a crappy division. They may not be the best team but appear to be most likely to make the playoffs.

The Tigers took the Yankees to the shed, the Giants did the same to the Tigers, and the Tigers and Yankees have better odds than the Giants. That makes sense.

That there are 10 teams with better odds than the Dodgers seems off to me.

Pirates at 30:1 seem like the worst bet of the non-completely terrible teams.
