Angel Pagan worked the drive-thru window at Taco Bell and gave away free tacos
Oct 31, 2012, 12:16 PM EDT
Giants center fielder Angel Pagan provided free tacos for the whole country by stealing second base in Game 2 of the World Series as part of a Taco Bell promotion.
Yesterday was the day for everyone to come claim their tacos and Pagan spent the afternoon hanging out at a Taco Bell in Redwood City, California, where he worked the drive-thru window, made the tacos, and helped give them away.
An actual Pagan quote from the above video: “I feel happy that I brought everyone together in the United States and it’s a great moment for all America.”
And there’s some good news: If you missed out on the “great moment for all America” yesterday you can, you know, just buy a taco today for like a dollar.

Off the record quote from Pagan: “Suck it, Dave Roberts. This is how you bring a real nation together.”

Dave Roberts? You mean the Dave Roberts that had the most important stolen base in the history of baseball?

It’s only Angel Pagan, why all the uproar? Maybe if it was Will Clark i could understand.
BTW the free taco is a gimmick to have people buy food there.

“I feel happy that I brought everyone together in the United States and it’s a great moment for all America.”
Yes, this ranks up there with the moon landing, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil Rights Act, and the Declaration of Independence. When a man, by his own sheer force and will, can steal a base and feed a nation of millions, it is indeed a proud moment to be an American.
What I find most impressive is that Pagan was able to say that with a straight face.

I’m willing to bet Joe Buck has said worse. And, in all fairness, free tacos are hardly going to cost the Democrats the South for a generation.

“Free tacos are hardly going to cost the Democrats the South for a generation.”
You never know. Those are some pretty lousy tacos.

Burgie, I know I don’t have to point out the obesity rates in the South to you. Will.Eat.Anything. (fried) I know a woman who makes her Thanksgiving “stuffing” with fritos.

True dat. My dad’s first comment when he moved to Florida, “Why is everyone so fat?” (In a heavy Spanish accent, it sounds funnier.)

Yes! Finally! Pagan is a MONSTER! I’m glad we could agree on this ‘burg. Your stance on his “dreamyness” has been untenable. Its nice to see you’ve recovered from your Dark & Stormy induced mental lapse. I blame FC for that. He’s a miscreant.

Ha! No sleep and baseball withdrawal has made me cranky. Pagan is still a mighty fine POA. He just needs to not talk; he ruins everything when he opens his mouth. And as others have mentioned, he was being a good sport.

Who’d have thought a guy named “Pagan” could slip so efficiently into soulless cross-promotional mode?

A glorious day, with the election looming and Thanksgiving on the horizon, to have
Angels and Pagans everywhere united in Aquarian Splendor.
Peace, Love and Tacos.

So,..free tickets to a ball game from a radio station is a ploy to keep listening to the station AND keep going to games. What’s the diff? Marketing is marketing.
