that’s true but for Jorge de la Rosa? was he really worth it lol some deals never make sense to me these guys are making too much money when they get injured 90% of the times idk

I see it as a concession from a ballclub to the player, similar to a no-trade clause. Strictly speaking, a club shouldn’t agree to that either as it limits future roster flexibility. It’s a negotiating point for the player. But if that’s what it takes to sign someone…

I agree with you a player option never made sense to me either…mabye if he.had to reach a certain amount of games or inninigs then they could activate the otpion…other wise it never made sense to me

I never understood why a team would agree to a player option. Maybe someone can point out why?

It seems like if the player is doing well they won’t exercise the option and go somewhere else for more money/more years and if they are doing badly they will exercise the option and the team is stuck with an overpriced player.
