Too bad if it happens…I thought with the news yesterday that he’d be back. I said it on here sometime back in the summer, but I still don’t get why Anthopolous didn’t make a trade involving him before the deadline, considering his age, the fact the Jays weren’t going anywhere, and how good Oliver was. Surely, some desperate team in the post-season hunt could have used his effective services (even if it was just short-term), which I would have figured could get the Jays something pretty decent in return.

By picking up his option, the Jays protected themselves in case Oliver did not retire. During the second half of the season, he indicated that he was contemplating retirement because he wanted to spend more time with his children.

Of the guys I could count on coming out of the pen it was Delabar, Janssen, and Oliver. Now it looks like no more Oliver. Too bad for My Boys. He was The Man. Happy Trails &thanks for a great job in 2012 Darren Oliver, if he really is calling it quits. There’s one hell of a career in coaching ahead of him if he decides to go that route.
