I know Sabean said that he wanted to re-sign all three, but I have a hard time seeing how he will be able to do that even with the extra revenue bump from going deep in the playoffs and actually winning the championship. By non-tendering as the article states, that makes it more appealing for teams to sign them away from the Giants because they do not need to include a draft pick to the Giants.

Also, considering how weak the FA market is this year, these three, as great as they were, will command more years than the Giants will be willing to give. I believe if it were just annual salary cost, that is something the Giants could match.

Sadly, I think Affeldt is gone and most likely Pagan. Scutaro is the one that will probably be signed. I really hope that I am wrong on Affeldt. Affeldt is a tough call because it is about pitching for the Giants first and foremost. So I am going back and forth on whether it is Affeldt or Scutaro that will be resigned. Pagan is a little more challenging because we have a highly prized prospect for CF, but is at least a year away from getting called up. So do you give a multi year deal to Pagan or gamble that you can find a adequate replacement on a 1 year deal and also gamble that the rookie will perform when he gets called up.

Also, there is the Melky factor, though I feel like there is only a 30-40% chance the Giants FO even want to deal with that situation again.

Rosterbation at its most frustrating...should be an interesting offseason.

Since they play for the fans, then our entertainment value trumps their lives.

No one is going to pay them millions of dollars to play in empty stadiums.

Or they could go back to stocking shelves at Wal-Mart and see how life is.
