It’s really a no-lose situation for Redmond. He gets major-league experience, his team won’t really be expected to contend for at least the next year, and he sets himself up nicely for going to work for a competently run franchise when his endurance contest under Scrooge and the Chihuahua is finished, one way or another. If he manages smartly the evidence will show up whether or not he gets along with the gaggle of jerks for whom he will be working, and if he doesn’t get along with them most other front offices in the game, who aren’t very fond of the Feesh notochord trust to begin with, will understand the situation. I like the selection and wish Mike well in what is doubtless going to be a trying environment.

Guillen should offer to pay Redmond’s salary if he abuses Loria and the Chihuahua in the first month and gets fired. They could then sit back and revel in the glory of watching Loria pay 3 managers salaries for the next 3 yrs.

Considering that the state of Florida has won as many WS titles in the last 15 years as Boston, San Fran, and St. Louis I’d say that puts them in pretty good company. And I am a Braves fan and do not like the Marlins.

I think gameface was once cornholed with the barrel of an overly tarred bat by one of the Grapefruit League mascots. It’s obviously the only explanation for his hatred of Florida baseball.

Actually, no it doesn’t. In fact, one of the best teams in the AL East is a florida team. Of the fans that frequent this site I like the Florida fans by an order of magnitude more than I like most other team fans. No one ever accuses them of boorishness, they seem to have a balanced outlook on baseball in general (leaving aside their quaint and ironic fixation with pitchers “hitting”, lol), and they rarely check in on these comments to slag another team (see that list, ‘gameface? Notice anything about it?). Leaving that aside, how can anyone hate on a guy who takes himself so un-seriously as to disrobe in the name of getting some laughs and playing baseball? Good luck to Mike Redmond: he’s gonna need it, what with having to work with jackals and running-dog lackeys, but the guy might actually have the tools required for such an odious gig.
