Are you so sure about the “everyone knows Greinke doesn’t want to go to a big city” thing? Has anyone heard him say that? Or is it just more speculation because of his anxiety disorder?

I’m not saying your wrong about that it. I just don’t remember ever seeing it documented that Zack said that. I’ve always thought it was pretty offensive when people make declarations about Greinke because of his illness.

That’s a horribly broad statement…
I hang out at SBNation’s Angels fan blog for Angel news.
I see nothing but “Angels MUST sign Greinke” posts.

Someone not wanting to resign Greinke is probably an individual who does not watch or care about the Angels.

Of course his Cy Young season was a fluke; it was a HISTORIC season. As in, don’t ever count on a pitcher having two seasons like that in his career.
If that’s your standard, then no wonder you whine and rage all the time; baseball must be just one disappointment after another.
Greinke is a very, very good pitcher, and odds are good he will continue to be.
BTW, what the fuck is “it”?

What’s the one thing everyone knows about Grienke? Doesn’t want to go to the big cities. So right off the bat, I say you knock NY, Philly & Boston out of contention. Most likely Texas as well. So the market dwindles. Who can afford him? Not everyone, so that further cuts down on the list. Teams that don’t need him? Take the Tigers, Rays and Giants off the list. And of course at this stage in his career he’ll most likely want to join a playoff caliber team, so again, the list shrinks. In my opinion it comes down to 2 teams: Angels & Orioles, Given Angelos’ hesitant spending habits I would usually say there’s no competition here BUT we all saw what the O’s are capable of last year, and Angelos saw what a full stadium looks like. He knows that he cannot deprive this city of an FA splash this year, and I think Grienke will be the target.

Yet another dumb move: signing a free agent because there are free agents available and the fan base wants you to make a blockbuster move. Sound familiar Boston?

Greinke is overrated and will cost them dearly because of his one Cy Young. He just doesn’t have “it” and I’m not sure that he really ever did or else he’d be able to “repeat the motion” so to speak.

His Cy was a fluke. He pitched in a weak division in what has unfortunately become baseball purgatory (and will be until the young guys figure out how to play at this level).

I think the Angels want to do this more because they are worried about the pieces they gave away to get Greinke and feeling like chumps.

You will feel double-chumped if you do this deal Arte. DOUBLE chumped.

Well given the Haren/Santana situation if they do not keep Greinke they are seriously a mess in the rotation.

I’m going to assume Jerry Dipoto knows what he’s doing and isn’t the type to release two pitchers without having a decent assurance he will be able to keep the third.
