I think that the Red Sox should consider trying. Boston needs a first baseman, and Youk played a solid first base for a couple of seasons. That position is lss demanding and requires less athleticism than playing the hot corner; I’d say that’s a perfect situation for him by reducing the injury risk. He was always a fan favorite in Boston (me included), and with Bobby V long gone and a more familiar manager in place there is probably a much more positive attitude in the clubhouse for him.

Question is … would Youk want to return to Boston?

I agree. The guy is an aging, declining player. I dont know why anyone would pay a high amount for him, or want to lock him up for more then one year.

Why do you guys only cite Youkilis’ post-trade numbers when you write about him? Those 42 games with the Red Sox were played by the same guy, they are probably relevant to the discussion.

Gator, while not being the sort to find Youkilis handsome in ANY way, he appears to have a pretty average mug. Plenty of ballplayers have similarly average mugs.
However, no Youkilis post passes without you advancing your one-man “Youkilis is the ugliest guy in the world” meme.

Did he piss in your Wheaties, or refuse to sign an autograph? What gives with the vitriol, sir?
