Doesn’t it seem like this horrific disaster to the New York/New Jersey area should have a million dollars donated by someone like Alex Rodriguez alone? At least a hundred thousand each from every person who makes over a million dollars per year off of New Yorkers – just singling out sports “heroes” isn’t right though either. Step it up and be “heroes”.

Donate Blood, used clothing, canned food, etc. Red Cross refused to release over $150 million after 9/11 until Congress hauled their butts in and they admitted that they were saving the donation $$ “for the next disasters” !. Buy a chain saw and help the National Guard to clean trees that have brought down power lines everywhere.Cut the limbs up so that they can be used as firewood. Share, reuse and help out.

Look, it’s a lot of money period, it’s something, and it will help. It is not our place to say, “It’s not enough”, since it’s the money of the NFL and NFLPA, MLB and MLBPA, the Yankees, etc. and not ours. Sure, it’s a drop in the bucket–but it’s a drop more than was there before.

that’s what in trying to say they are donating less then an average American would who let’s say is making 40 k a year…and they are TWO organization combining to put together one million…its just I never understand why its not more…idk just figure.we want to help out those in need and these guys should try a little more

Based on the amount of money players get nowadays, not even accounting for the fee of running a stadium, $1 million seems pretty measly. It will help, but a lot more could have easily been donated. MLB employes over 10,000 people, or 1/30000 of the US population. Sandy cost $50 billion, $1 million is 1/50000. They donated less than the average citizen would have to, even though they are making bazillions of dollars.

Every ounce of help counts. A surreal experience that continues to accentuate the fragility of our humanity.

Still waiting to hear from some family. I’ve watched videos of areas I used to frequent as a child being washed away. Five to ten miles down the road, homes and businesses are gone and have flooded to extreme lengths.

Where did I watch the news and videos from? The hospital. I tip my cap to those that stayed and worked multiple shifts because of the conditions. That’s where I could try to contact family, if I couldn’t drive to their homes without trees blocking the roads.

A gigantic thank you to the hospital workers, the police, fireman, first responders. The Light and Power Companies are doing what they can. If MLB and MLBPA donate, thank you. Shed some more light on the need. If you can’t help financially, maybe you can donate blood. Anything. I’ll take anything and I thank all of you out there that are giving so much of yourselves to take care of others.

now I want this to come out right…and I think its great that they are helping all those people in need….but two billion dollar companies can’t help out a little more…I’m just trying to say that all these players making millions of dollars I wonder why not more.is being donated to all those millions in trouble and too the city that had been destroyed…it’d just my thoughts I wonder what everyone thinks of it…but again I’m happy that they are helping every little thing helps.
