I believe Owens was released Don. Seems he’s considering switching to a position player in hopes of making the league. I know the dude can rake.

I am telling you people with jocketty’s love of washed up ex-cards combined with Ludwick opting out do not be shocked if he signs with the reds. and once he does with numbers like he has has he will be the reds starting left fielder. dusty has to have that veteran presence in the lineup no matter how bad they suck.

I don’t know if he can return to form as a pitcher, remember that meltdown? His story was great when he came back as a power hitter, but maybe it’s time to retire for Rick. If he can come back, more power to the guy. I wouldn’t mind seeing it. .

Brooks Kieschnick was mediocre for most of his career as a novelty PH, LF, DH, and RP with a career OPS of .760 and an ERA of 4.59 (only pitched two seasons). In 2003 with Milwaukee, he was first player to ever hit a HR as a pitcher, DH, and pinch hitter all in the same season.

I hope Ankiel does it. Comes back to be a pitcher, I mean. We’d finally have that mythical creature: a good hitting pitcher. Actually, given his rather poor slash line as a hitter, he’d be a “pretty good hitter for a pitcher” but it’d finally give the modern day “pitcher hitting” crowd some legitimacy at least.
