The Dodgers are going to have a lot of bobblehead days next year

Nov 2, 2012, 3:31 PM EDT

From the team’s Twitter:

The Vin Scully bobblehead was pretty damn popular, so I get why they’re bringing it back.  I will admit, however, that I am worried that bobblehead technology is sufficient to capture the nuances of the Rick Monday saving the flag incident.

Also worth noting that Monday played for the Cubs at the time of the flag incident, and he was saving it from unruly Dodgers fans (well, at least they were in Los Angeles anyway), so apparently the Dodgers are bobblehead-i-fying anything that remotely touches on Dodger history.

I like Magic’s hands off approach to owning a baseball team.

The Dodgers are going to have a new hitting coach soon as well.

Derrick Goold of the STL Post Dispatch is reporting Mark McGwire will be accepting the LA gig to be closer to his Orange County home.

So if Magic gets one, do Stan Kasten and Ned Colletti also get one? Because those are the ones I want.

The two people were 37-year-old William Errol Thomas and his 11-year-old son. From my book, 100 Things Dodger Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die:

“Following up on the case days later, the Los Angeles Times found that ‘the man who tried to burn the American flag at Dodger Stadium was attempting to draw attention to what he claims is his wife’s imprisonment in a Missouri mental institution, authorities say.’ It paints the attempt to burn the flag as something less than viciously anti-American.” …

In any case, despite Monday playing for the Cubs, the moment has always been huge in the history of Dodger Stadium and in turn the Dodgers. It is celebrated by the franchise year after year.

Craig, I think you’re right about bobblehead technology not capturing the nuances of the flag saving incident. I’m having difficulty imagining it. Will he have a Cubs uniform on to make it historically accurate? Will they also include the flag burners’ bobbling heads? Don’t get me wrong; it is an iconic image and rightfully so, but a bobblehead? Hmmm.

I have to imagine that it would just be a bobblehead of Rick Monday holding the flag while running. It should be good enough.

Of course the Dodgers get an article for having 10 bobblehead days. Just curious why the Brewers didn’t get one for having 10 as well. Seems like there is some big market bias.

      isn’t Craig a Brewers fan?

        Craig is a Braves fan

Don’t worry too much about the Monday bobble, there has been great progress in the technology lately.
