This doesn’t surprise me at all. Mike Rizzo has massive amounts of concentrated blood flow in his underpants (in the front) for the situation the Rockies are trying to set up for themselves this off-season, the whole “hey, you be the manager and get the manager baseball card and we’ll just tell you what to do from the stands or our office. Sound good bag of balls or Jason Giambi, which ever appears to be dumber (and that is lining up to be Giambi at this point)?”

If Davey would be allowed to manage the team, he’d be phenomenal. He’s a damn good baseball guy. You know there have been problems in the past between Davey and Tweedledummie and Davey is getting older. He probably doesn’t want to deal with that nonsense anymore. He’s old school and probably just wants to manage a damn team already without all the genius of Mike Rizzo rearing its ugly bald head every 2 seconds.

He will be back, part of the issue is whether or not he should have the ability to return to the front office position which he loved. Another is the number of years he will get as a manager. But he wants to return, and he loves his bosses (unlike in Baltimore). This isnt an issue. His history isnt a factor here, he will be back no doubt.

With the way that blowhard Mike Rizzo threatens people and tells people about “where he’s from”, has anyone bothered to confirm that he hasn’t already beaten Davey Johnson to near death and left him in a field somewhere? This guy is a menace to society. He makes Hank Steinbrenner look like Peewee Herman.

Memo to Nats ownership: sign Davey or he’s gone. He will walk right the hell out of there and make you look like fools in the process. I will never forget the gut punch of him leaving my O’s high and dry in 1997, the very day he was named MoY.

Davey never caught much flak for that little maneuver, but as time goes by I subscribe less and less to the idea that he was forced out — he up and quit because Peter Angelos refused to discuss a contract extension on Davey’s terms. PA deserves much of the angst he gets from O’s fans, but the more I ponder this situation the more likely I am to lay the blame on Daveys ego.

I’m still a big Davey fan, and I hope he stays with the Nats.. He has a job to finish.
