I know I am not mistaken, so I will just go ahead and point out that the Rawlings Gold Glove award is a sponsored award. So the first paragraph of this post makes no sense at all. But cool to see MLB officially recognizing the award winners (through MLB network). Many on here will definitely agree (Craig included) that Mike Trout should have won the Rawlings Gold Glove, so very cool to see him recognized here with the Wilson award

Not quite. Remember that the wild card teams have to win an extra post-season game to get into the Division Series. That means that a wild card team that faces a division winner in the World Series could lose 4-3 and still be tied for having the most wins. Close, but no cigar. The real goal is to win the last game of the season.

Lorenzo Cain made some nice plays in the outfield for the Royals this year — in the 60 games he actually played out there while not injured. Meanwhile, Alex Gordon and, to a lesser degree of effectiveness, Mike Moustakas were getting the job done all year.

So while he’s not exactly the Rafael Palmeiro of Wilson Defensive Aware winners, he’s not entirely dissimilar either.

Um, Jose Altuve was awful at 2B according to UZR, which I presume was at least somewhat used to determine these awards. Maxwell was at least above-average in the outfield.

CarGo is a pretty embarrassing choice. He only played LF all year, typically where the least talented defender plays….and he appears to have played it horribly (-13 DRS and -10.0 UZR/150) even in comparison to the other plodding players that play LF.

Cain played in 61 games this year. That choice is….odd.

LaRoche is a solid defensive 1B, but again…that is a low low bar as most guys generally are at 1B because they aren’t particularly good defenders. There is no way LaRoche was a better (as in more valuable) defensive player than Harper was this year.

In all fairness, not even the manager(s) watched 162 Astros games this season. Nobody could be expected to endure that.

Justin Maxwell! ?!!!!! Did you guys watch one Astro game this year?
The answer is no cuz I have seen the ratings and there was no room for any viewers but me and my girl.

Justin Maxwell did not play half the year.

Jose Altuve showed he was gold for a full season.

Mailed in that list for sure.

I apologize Craig but how are the Braves the best team? If other NL teams like the Phillies or the Brewers wanted to play baseball this year, the Braves might not have made the playoffs! I’m not saying the Braves suck, they are just not the best team in the MLB.
