The day after the Yankees lost in the ALCS, Cashman effusively praised Martin, repeating several times how much he personally liked Martin and his game. That they will make an honest effort to resign him is no surprise.

I don’t much care for the conversation of offensive numbers when it comes to catchers because most are just as bad as the pitchers they catch.

Can he keep the running game in check? Can he call a decent game? Is he the general they need on the field when Jeter is DHing?

I’ll say yes to all of these.

Sign him to a one year $8.75 million deal.
