I don’t think Art Howe has ever gotten the dredit he deserves for developing the young talent he had in Houston & in Oakland. Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Ken Caminiti, Luis Gonzales, to name a few with the Astros. Jason Giambi, Eric Chavez, Miguel Tejada, Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, Barry Zito with the A’s. I think he has a pretty solid record of working with young players.

No, no. That was just Phillip Seymour. I always thought Lewis gave Howe a bad rap in Moneyball. Beane clearly didn’t like Howe, so Lewis just went with a simple narrative. Bad Guy/Good Guy is an easy way to make your point.

Art Howe as the Beav’s Boss? Sure. He let his players play and didn’t interfere with what worked (except in the movies and then, if you ask me, he was a dick). One of these days Anthopolous will make up his mind, and when he does I’ll be very surprised if its any of the guys mentioned thus far.
