Contrary to what Drew wrote, there is no indication that the Jays have actually had any formal interviews with anyone. They seem to be still gathering information on the candidates and are deciding on the type of manager they need. The reports that they have asked to interview Wallach and Williams are probably accurate, but any conversation with them so far, was probably on the phone. Hale, Butterfield, and Alomar were interviewed 2 years ago, so they are known to the team. There is no indication that they have been interviewed since last year.

Wakamatsu is a strong possibility, because after Farrell got the job 2 years ago, AA recommended him to Farrell as his bench coach. Wakamatsu also appears to be respected by the players. In 2011, he took over for several games while Farrell was sick. I remember him saying that he would manage those games the same way as Farrell, because he did not want to confuse the players. That was a strong hint, that his style of managing was different than Farrell's.

Contrary to Rosenthal's comments though, there is no firm indication that the Jays want an experienced manager. AA was quoted yesterday by Shi Davidi of Sportsnet that with an experienced manager, you know how he will react in certain situations. Of course, he may not like what he has learned about how those experienced guys actually performed while on the job.

AA likes to operate in private. I am sure that by now, he has decided whom he wants to interview; however, he is not going to tell anyone.
