Doesnt that make it the GMs fault? Crawford, Beckett, Lackey. I like many dislike the Yankees for their spending and reload mentality, but they always reload and always compete. The Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, and Marlins have all shown that sure you can spend the money, but that doesnt mean you will win.

Thers was a reason that he hadn’t managed in the bigs for 10 years. The Red Sox should’ve known this. Even the Dodgers passed on him a number of times.

The trouble is, with the Red Sox needing 25 cabs after every game and so on, there just weren’t enough team buses to throw guys under.

I actually somewhat agree with Bobby on this one.

While him throwing one of the prime guys who was in his camp under the bus (Ortiz) was a low class move, the Sox were not going to compete this season with that roster. They should have done much better than they did – and for a guy who is supposedly a strategic master of the Game, Bobby didn’t exactly impress.

But the lasting legacy of 2012 is that young Sox got a chance to play, and the old Sox will never again take a player’s coach like Francona or Farrell for granted again, lest they risk returing to an A-hole like Valentine.

In that respect, for a season in which no one expected they’d compete for a Championship in the first place, the long-term mission for the Sox was accomplished in 2012.

Who thinks Bobby’s next big paycheck comes from a book rather than a MLB team? He’ll hold off writing it until he evaluates his chances of getting another offer. If it doesn’t come, the RS front office better duck.
