Jeremy Affeldt and the Giants moving toward a three-year deal

Nov 9, 2012, 4:33 PM EDT

The headline says it all. Here is the reportage:

Affeldt, who is the best left reliever on the market, is coming off a three-year, $14 million deal. He just put up two fantastic — and damn nigh identical — seasons for San Francisco, so it makes sense they want him back.

when the giants signed him I saw it has a pretty good deal and so far its been beyond great…this guy is one of my favorite players and when he stepped up as a sponser for the Bryan stow fam it wad great….he’s a good guy and and great ball player u wish the yankees could of made a run for him but im glad the giants have continued to give him extensions…3 years probally 20 mil is fine especially how he played in the postseason…11 innings no runs allowed two hits…this guy is THERE GUY

I kept telling myself that the rumored deal in the 3 year 22 million range is too high.

But then I think of the new tv deals coming within the next year or two and how they will make salaries escalate.

The rumored new Affeldt deal is likely to be the new market price for a quality setup man.
