The Denver Post ran multiple lead editorials this season calling for the Montforts to fire the GM or sell the team to someone who cared about building a winning organization. Denver Post sports columnists, who have been in a state of despondent rage ever since 2007, have ripped the living crap out of both ownership and management on a weekly basis.

If anyone at the Post pulled any punches because of the Post’s minority stake it’s hard to see the evidence.

Sure the Post can use the cash, but it would be easy to understand if they were also frustrated by the coupon clipping Montforts incorrigibly clueless record of ownership and severed their connection out of a basic need to preserve sanity.

One also has to wonder if the paper was less negative in its Rockies coverage than a completely unbiased outlet would have been…it isn’t like they don’t have a lot of organizational aspects to be critical of….the MLB roster is a bit of a disaster, but the organization as a whole isn’t any better.

There lots of media outlets with ownership interests. The Braves have Liberty Media, Turner Braodcasting and Time Warner as owners.

But cash is cash. No doubt the Post could use it. Why don’t we all throw in a few bucks and get a 0.1% interest in the Rocks. It would be fun to respond to a the question, what to you do with “I’m an owner of an MLB team.”
