I am so sick of the Tribe trading away talent. They will trade this round of good players just like the previous groups. Then we will be told about the ‘up and coming’ players we received. Then we will get the same garbage about being a small market team and the fans need to be patient because the Indians are building for the long haul. Remember what the management says. In two years they will say the same thing when they trade the players we just received. I am still an Indians fan but I follow other teams much closer than in the past. The Indians organization is a classic example of poor management. They get rid of everyone except the people responsible for this debacle. Thank The Lord there are teams like the Reds, Cardinals and Rangers. At least these are teams worth watching.

While Cabrera offers some intrigue (occasional power and stolen base history), he isn’t worth the likes of Lynn or Kelly, not to mention Miller or Rosenthal. Offer the Tribe Boggs or McClellan. There are other options. Wong is still in the mix, and Descalso is solid. And while nobody was more surprised by the play of Kozma, he showed skills comparable to Cabrera. Has similar speed and power, a much better arm, superior range, and plays fearlessly. Can he repeat his late season success, who knows, but expending a quality young arm for someone of similar caliber just doesn’t make much sense.

Even with his poor fielding, the middle infield could use some shoring up–Furcal shouldn’t be counted on for anything near a full season, Descalso and Kozma are utility players at best, and Ryan Jackson hasn’t seen enough time in the majors to answer questions about his bat.

That said, St. Louis shouldn’t give up one of their top pitching prospects for Cabrera. Of the pitchers Drew listed, only Joe Kelly and possibly Lance Lynn should be offered. Cabrera isn’t worth Miller or Rosenthal.

If they traded Cabrera and Choo, Santana, Kipnis, Chisenhall, and Brantley would still all be better than any of their starting pitchers. Their best prospect (Lindor) is also a position player too. They could certainly use more pop in the lineup, but starting position is EASILY their most pressing need.

Cleveland needs help all over, they really aren’t close to competing….last year they were 22nd in MLB in runs scored and 29th in runs allowed (which, of course, can be attributed to both pitching and fielding). They really aren’t good at anything…so if they deal Cabrera, any good hitting or pitching they get will help.

If Cabrera is as poor a fielder as he is widely reorted to be, I think the Cards should pass. Whitey Herzog made one of the greatest trades of all time when he went out and got the lthen light hitting Ozzie Smith. His very sound theory was that an outstand defensive SS could win many games by preventing runs –the corollary should be obvious

If my tribe gets pitching for him everyone they better get hitting…as much as you can never have enough pitching our offense is horrible and we lack hitters in the minors big time

Sounds like a fit. Now, of course, it’s hard to get too much pitching. But from the list it looks like the Cards may be blocking development on some young players soon. In that case they should cash in for an infield upgrade.

I would love for the Cards to get Cabrera, and even when Furcal is healthy, he could be moved to 2B, which might help the elbow that held him out at the end of last season.
