The Indians could be in on Jason Bay

Jason Bay AP

The Indians don’t like to win, eh?  Well, Mr. fancy Scott Boras, then what do you think about THIS from Paul Hoynes’ mailbag:

Q: Hey, Hoynsie: The New York Mets parted ways with Jason Bay on Wednesday. Jason played well for Terry Francona in Boston and is a right-handed hitter who plays left field. Any chance Francona and the Indians would make him an offer? He’d fit two needs for us and maybe resurrect his career. – Erick Golden, Westfield, N.J.

A: Hey, Erick: Asked Chris Antonetti about Bay last week at the GM meetings. He didn’t come out and say his name, but I would imagine Bay is on the Tribe’s radar.

Scott Boras says the Indians don’t want to win, Chris Antonetti signs Jason Bay and drops the mic.

Then Indians fans smack their heads in frustration.

Bay is a piece of trash with a good agent like most ballplayers are.

Erik is a perfect example of a fan who thinks every name player he recognizes is a good player. Indians would be better promoting any minor leaguer than adding Jason Bay

to be fair, if he takes a reasonable salary, it wouldn’t hurt to take a flyer on him.

At this point, a “reasonable salary” would be the MLB minimum.

yeah pretty much. He got paid for the next two years so I think it’s a solid strategy to tell him to take the minimum and prove himself to be worth more.

Weird. AJ Pierzynski signed with the Indians in a dream I had last night. Surely that’s a sign of some kind.

Even for Craig, this is ridiculous. Fan says “why not this guy?” Reporter responds that the team has made no apparent move for said guy, but gives a “hey, why not?” back.

Here, I’ll ask, “Hey Hoynsie, any chance the Indians make an offer to Hamilton and Greinke?”

Hoynsie – “Haven’t heard anything, but it’s possible”

Now, Craig, please report that the Indians are going to all Dodgers on the rest of the league.

I take him over Shelley Duncan and Johnny Damon any day of the week.
