The Yankees are interested in Mike Napoli

Nov 12, 2012, 4:30 PM EDT

It’s “are interested in” season:

Eli Whiteside:  What am I, chopped liver?

Brian Cashman: Well, kinda.

Red Sox: Are you just doing this because you saw that we were interested in Napoli and you want to mess with us?

Brian Cashman: Probably.

Is the only team in all baseball not interested in Mr. Napoli The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim & Outer Woop-Woop? I suspect so.

Add the Blue Jays to the list of teams not interested.

      • roverkarlthecannedham - Nov 12, 2012 at 4:45 PM

        Perhaps they should be.

Napoli had his 15 min of fame in 2011.

And Jesus was a carpenter prior to his career as a profit…I really don’t know how that applies to any of this- I think I just wanted to say it.

Cardinals. Unless they want to pay through the nose for a back-up. There’s probably others. But any team that has a question mark at the position is probably going to go after Napoli, despite his flaws.

pretty sure we can rule out the Tigers

Rangers fan: So long Mike, I loved your bat but hated your noodle arm and ability to block the plate. 8 mil per year and you’d probably be with Texas again, however you want more for that .220 BA and 2-3 months missed. We’ll have to go with Soto and MISC catcher.

    • proudlycanadian - Nov 12, 2012 at 5:44 PM

Since you did mention that .220 BA and noodle arm, I think he would be a fine addition to either the Yankees or the Red Sox.

Kinda have to laugh because about an hour ago and five posts previous is the “Rangers are interested in Russell Martin” story. …Speaking of Mendoza line type BA….did hit a lot of homers this year though..lol.

Does Martin have a “noodle arm”? Can he block the plate?

Yea the yanks are interested because the sox are. That makes sense.
That Red Sox business model is top notch lately.

Get this guy out from behind the plate and play him at 1B/DH and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him pop 35 homers.

Red Sox are not interested in Napoli to catch every day. Because he has had great success at Fenway Park as a hitter, they need to add bats to the lineup. Besides, they presently have three catchers with major league experience on the roster – having just signed David Ross. So, there primary interest is to have him play first base – if the price and years are right and they can’t get someone who is better defensively like Adam LaRoche.
